Victorian Sterling Silver Cuff by Saunders & Shepherd
A stark, finely made Victorian era hinged cuff bracelet made of sterling silver. This piece was manufactured in Birmingham, England in 1885 by Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & Francis Hollings Shepherd (Saunders & Shepherd).
The company has an interesting history, from being badly bombed in London during WW2, to eventually going on to create a commissioned 18K bracelet for Diana, Princess of Whales. The bracelet was commissioned by King Charles for her birthday present and was worn on the day of her wedding.
The piece appears to date from the very first year the company starting silversmithing - 1885.
